CCHS is seeking gardeners and volunteers for the AccessABLE Community Garden !
Led by CCHS Inclusion Specialist, Teresa Waits, and Career, Activity, & Community’s Dirt Devils gardening group, the AccessABLE Community Garden is designed to bring together individuals from our programs and members of the greater community through a shared love of gardening. We hope that this approach will be mutually beneficial for those who participate; highlighting abilities rather than disabilities, learning from one another, and building an accepting and welcoming community space that everyone can enjoy.
We are also excited to announce that, beginning in July, the AccessABLE Community Garden will be launching a Farmer’s Market! All food grown in the garden will be distributed at no cost to our low-income neighbors! Everyone is welcome, and for those who can afford to contribute, donations will be accepted. Special thanks to the following organizations whose generous funding has made our garden & market possible!
Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, The Columbus Foundation, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Franklin County, and Kegler, Brown, Hill + Ritter!
Volunteers are needed in the garden to help with:
- Assembly of new raised beds (May 3, 9, & 10th)
- Planting, watering, weeding etc. (Ongoing every Tuesday & Friday throughout the growing season)
- Weekend watering
- Farmer’s Market preparation and operation (Every Tuesday & Friday throughout the growing season)
